Who are we?

Columbiana Housing Authority, located in Columbiana, Alabama, provides housing to eligible low-income families, the elderly, and person with disabilities within Columbiana.  This is as part of 2 programs through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These are the Project-based Voucher (PBV) program and the Section 8 (S8) program.

PBV is part of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.  These units are managed and ran through the authority. To keep rent low, HUD subsidizes based on individual incomes.

When the S8 program is open, this allows tenants to search using a voucher for an eligible S8 unit that is owned by a landlord. To keep rent low, HUD subsidizes based on individual incomes.

Eligibility is determined on annual gross income, family composition, and U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. To determine income eligibility, we use standards that are set each year by HUD and are unique to our area based on family size.

How to Apply

Applications can be submitted online now!  You will need Social Security Cards, Birth Certificates, and all financial information to complete the application process.

We are only accepting applications for our PBV program currently.  Our Section 8 Waiting List will be opening on June 12, 2024 at 9AM and close on August 8, 2024 at 3PM.
